Salted Caramel Shake

Time: 5 mins
Serves: 1

Sugar, heavy cream & butter are the ingredients typically used to create caramel, but if you've ever tried a soft date variety such as medjool or deglet nour you would have instantly likened it to the sweet and sticky taste of caramel; in this recipe I combine dates, vanilla, hemp milk, coffee & a pinch of salt for a delightful and cooling summer drink that won't affect your waist line! Depending on the size of your dates, it will alter the amount of energy in the drink, but using 5 deglet nour dates and hemp milk, this shake will have around 200 nutrient dense calories, compared to a commercial dairy shake with around 400 empty calories of sugar and bad fats - not to mention, this tastes so much better!

Hemp Milk
This drink can be made with or without coffee, either way it's a delightful salty-sweet pick-me-up that only contains naturally occurring sugars and is free from most allergens! Hemp milk is creamy & delicious, naturally sweetened with grape extract, contains omega 3's and 6's (essential fatty acids) and is fortified with calcium and vitamin D. It's also great for the environment as it grows very fast and captures a lot of CO2 from the environment, the whole plant is also used for things like building materials, so there is no waste in production, no allergens and a great healthy product!

You'll need:

Blender
Serving cup + straw

Ingredients:

  • 100ml strong cold coffee
